Prime Minister Modi holds virtual summit with Finland counterpart Sanna Marin

 During the virtual summit, PM Modi urged Finland to join the International Solar Alliance and CDRI. 

PM Modi on March 16, 2021, held a summit in a virtual mode with the Prime Minister of Finland Sanna Marin.

During the summit, both the leaders covered the entire spectrum of the bilateral relationship between India and Finland. They also exchanged views on global and regional issues of mutual interest.

According to Prime Minister’s Office, the summit will provide a blueprint for the diversification and future expansion of the Partnership between India and Finland.

The official release added that both the countries enjoy warm and friendly relations with each other that are solely based on the shared values of freedom, democracy, and rules-based international order.

Prime Minister Modi while speaking at the summit highlighted that in 2020, India sent medicines as well as other essentials to more than 150 countries amid the pandemic. And in recent weeks, as India worked on its vaccine development capacity, about 70 countries all over the world have received more than 58 million doses of made in India vaccines.

India invites Finland to join ISA

Prime Minister Modi during the summit also urged Finland to join the International Solar Alliance- ISA and CDRI. He further added that these international institutions will be extremely from Finland's advanced expertise and research.

Finland recognizes India's efforts to combat COVID-19

During the virtual summit between India and Finland, the Prime Minister of Finland Sanna Marin highlighted that the top item on the agenda of all the heads of the governments is the Coronavirus pandemic. She further added that Finland recognizes the efforts made by India in an extensive vaccination program to combat the pandemic.

India-Finland collaboration:

• India and Finland have very close cooperation in the area of education, trade and investment, science and technology, innovation as well as research and development.

• Both countries also have an ongoing collaboration in the joint development of a Quantum computer with the use of Artificial Intelligence for addressing societal challenges.

• Around 100 Finnish countries have been actively operating in India in different sectors such as elevators, telecom, machinery, and energy including renewable energy.

• Around 30 companies of India have also been active in Finland and their work is mainly in auto-components, IT, and the hospitality sector.
